more about me:
I have a deep passion for learning about medicine, the human body, nutrition and our wider heath care ecosystem that has kept me focused on the practice of medicine and study of health care for decades. I began studying Medical Anthropology in undergraduate school and my interest in the broad spectrum of health conditions and treatments has never ceased. It brought me to study Naturopathic medicine as a way to learn about and practice as many health perspectives as possible, including conventional medicine, under one professional umbrella.
In addition to practicing medicine, in the past I have been involved in research including participating in a clinical study of alternative therapies for people at the end of life. Additionally I worked on a study focusing on the Turkey tail mushroom as treatment of Breast Cancer. I greatly value high quality natural medicine clinical research to help further evaluation of traditional and functional medicine treatment approaches.
I grew up in New York state and City. However, I’ve lived in the Pacific NW for the last 30+ years. While I came the Seattle area to study at Bastyr University and for the wide open spaces, I’ve stayed for the incredible natural wonder here.
I enjoy spending time in nature in all ways including gardening, running, hiking, Nordic skiing and sharing it all with my wonderful family and friends.
Also, I’ve been a practitioner of Aikido (a Japanese martial art focused on resolving conflict without increasing violence) for many years including sometimes teaching. While my practice has taken a hiatus in recent years, I hope to return to it soon.
